Avner Samuel, Chef and Owner

Born in Israel, Avner Samuel grew up the oldest of seven children in the ancient city of Jerusalem. At the age of thirteen, he got his first job cooking in a commercial kitchen. Samuel graduated from the Tadmor Culinary Institute in Jerusalem, and also studied at La Varenne Culinary School in Paris.

 

Avner has spent many years as Executive Chef in some of Dallas' finest restaraurants, including the Mansion on Turtle Creek, The Crescent Court Hotel and the Fairmont Hotel.

 

In 1993 he opened his first restaurant in Dallas, "Avner's" on McKinney, which was named to Esquire Magazine's list of the "Ten Best New Restaurants in America". He then added "Yellow" and Bistro A to his list of acclaimed restaurants. In 2003 he opened Aurora which was voted Best New Restaurant in Dallas in 2003.
